Freediving
Freediving is a form of underwater diving that relies on the individual’s ability to hold their breath while underwater. The term ‘free’ comes from the fact that the individual is ‘free’ of the bulk and restrictions of an underwater breathing apparatus used by scuba divers. The Mammalian Reflex common to Whales and Dolphins is also present in humans. Breath-hold diving, or freediving, therefore comes naturally to humans. In essence, the sport of freediving brings the individual closer to the natural rhythm of nature and the sea than scuba diving does. Under the expert eye of our freediving instructors, our free diving courses help bring out and enhance one’s natural ability to free dive into the big blue.
At our centres we offer SSI certified freediving courses and training sessions for beginner and experienced freedivers. We also offer adventure trips to freedive with Dolphins and Humpback Whales*, as well as multi day live aboard freediving charters to nearby Pemba Island and Quirimbas archipelago.
