Wildlife Safari in Namibia’s Western Parks
NAMIB-NAUKLUFT PARK
The park protects two ecological areas in the country: the Namib and the Naukluft. The Naukluft Mountains are found on the eastern side of the park and are known for their wildlife, including Mountain Zebra and Leopard. Namib means vast dry plain and the park makes justice to its name. It covers 23,000 square kilometres of arid and semi arid land that encompass part of the oldest desert on earth, the Namib Desert. Here you can find the highest dunes in the world, reaching a height of up to 300 metres. The dunes are located in the Sosssusvlei area, the main feature of the entire park and a highlight of any visit in Namibia.
CAPE CROSS SEAL RESERVE
This reserve is a sanctuary for the world’s largest breeding colony of South African fur seals, with up to 210 000 seals during breading season between November and December. One of Namibia’s most visited parks, here you can spot also Flamingos, Brown Hyena, Black-backed Jackal, and several bird species.
