Southern Tazania
MIKUMI
Mikumi National Park is bordered by Selous Game Reserves, Udzungwa Mountains and Uluguro Mountains. Amongst the less travelled parks, this park is home to Lions, Giraffes, Elephants, Zebras, Impalas, Kudu, Antelope, Baboons, Wildebeest and Buffaloes. The savannah is covered with acacia, baobab and tamarinds. It is the easiest to access form Dar es Salaam and the best option for those who do not have a lot of time.
RUAHA
The largest National Park in Tanzania is home to Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Giraffes, Buffaloes and many other wild animals. In the heart of the park is the Great Ruaha River, where one can spot Crocodiles and Hippos. This place is also special for birdlife enthusiasts: more than 400 different species can be found in the areas of the park.
SELOUS
UNESCO World Heritage and the largest wildlife reserve in Africa, Selous is a game reserve with diverse landscapes from wood and grasslands to wetlands and Rufiji river. Less visited by tourists, it’s a secluded reserve, home to Elephants, Buffaloes, Crocodiles, Hippos, and many Birds.
