YACHT CHARTERS IN TANZANIA
Although Tanzania is world renowned for its exceptional wildlife safaris, it is little known that the country also offers some exceptional yacht cruising options. The famous Zanzibar Archipelago, located in the northern part of the country’s coastline, needs no introduction. Yet the satellite islands around the main island of Unguja – or Zanzibar – are little hidden gems. The second main island of the archipelago, Pemba, is still very much off the beaten track and offers some world class scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing along its many miles of pristine coral reef slopes that descend into the clear blue waters that surround it. |

Further south, the Mafia Archipelago, with its countless offshore reefs, sand banks, and satellite islands, also offers some very much off the beaten track cruising options. Lying on the continental shelf, Mafia and the smaller islands of Okuza, Nyuni, and Fanjove are encircled by extensive reef systems and lagoons to explore by yacht. Aggregating Whale Sharks offer a special point of interest for the area.
Last but not least, Kilwa Kisiwani and the surrounding area south of the Mafia Archipelago offer a rare glimpse into the region’s past. The Kilwa Sultanate was occupied as early the 8th Century AD and minting its own coin for a period of about 500 years became East Africa’s most important trading centre between the 13th and 14th Century AD. This was long before Zanzibar took over that role in the 18th and 19th Centuries AD. With many miles of coral reefs and lagoons, islands and inland waterways, and the UNESCO World Heritage sites to be explored, yachting in the area offers glimpses into the rich past of the Swahili Coast.
Through our experienced on board crews, skippers, and guides, we offer day cruises out of Zanzibar on both a unique luxury traditional Dhow and 60′ luxury sailing catamaran, as well as multi-day tailor made live aboard trips to Pemba Island and the Mafia and Kilwa Archipelagoes. While day cruises cater for large groups, live aboard trips cater for small private groups of up to 8 pax.
