Mozambique
Mozambique is always a favourite choice for a top safari or adventure vacation.
Untouched, unspoiled and naturally beautiful, Mozambique is an African hidden gem. Its 2,800 or so kilometres of secluded beaches, bays, lagoons and remote archipelagos surrounded by the Indian Ocean are home to magnificent colourful fish and a hotspot for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.
Early explorers and traders came to Mozambique in the late first millennium and eventually established trading centres along its long coastline. The Portuguese colonised the country after Vasco de Gama discovered the country’s beauty and potential as a source of trade in natural resources. The beautiful island of Ilha de Mocambique, the country’s previous Capital City, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and boats significant monuments that stand testament to the country’s Portuguese run past.
The country is a fusion of Portuguese, Arab, Asian, and African culture and it can be witnessed in the delicious food the country serves. The country’s wildlife areas are slowly but surely regenerating after the long civil war ended in 1992, with Gorongosa National Park being its most famous wildlife conservation area. Lake Nyasa to the west offers spectacular locations for small scale eco tourism but tourism infrastructure is still hard to come by.
Mozambique is essentially a beach destination and is what the country’s tourism is most famous for. The Bazaruto Archipelago in the south and less visited Quirimbas Archipelago to the north offer some of the best sport fishing, selective fishing, scuba diving and yachting destinations in the world. High quality accommodation ensures a comfortable stays while enjoying a glimpse of the sights and sounds this wonderful country has to offer.

Freediving
Freediving is a form of underwater diving that relies on the individual’s ability to hold their breath while underwater. The term ‘free’ comes from the fact that the individual is ‘free’ of the bulk and restrictions of an underwater breathing apparatus used by scuba divers. The Mammalian Reflex common to Whales and Dolphins is also present in humans. Breath-hold diving, or freediving, therefore comes naturally to humans. In essence, the sport of freediving brings the individual closer to the natural rhythm of nature and the sea than scuba diving does. Under the expert eye of our freediving instructors, our free diving courses help bring out and enhance one’s natural ability to free dive into the big blue.
At our centres we offer SSI certified freediving courses and training sessions for beginner and experienced freedivers. We also offer adventure trips to freedive with Dolphins and Humpback Whales*, as well as multi day live aboard freediving charters to nearby Pemba Island and Quirimbas archipelago.

Selective Fishing
Scientific studies have proven that spearfishing is the most selective method of fishing known to humans. This is because it is the only form of fishing where one can see their catch before it is caught. Spearfishing is also limited by depth that a person can freedive to, and has no by-catch. Hence we use the words ‘Selective Fishing’ when we address spearfishing. Anyone who eats fish and is concerned for the health of our fisheries, the ocean, and the environment, then spearing their own fish or eating fish that was selected by a spearfisher is the way to address these concerning issues. Furthermore, our self-imposed species harvest list will ensure you are selecting your fish ethically and having minimal or no impact on the fishery you are spearfishing in. We actively promote selective fishing by offering the world’s most selective spearfishing trips.
From our spearfishing bases located in Zanzibar in Tanzania to the Quirimbas Archipelago of northern Mozambique, the Nosy Be Archipelago of northern Madagascar, the Western Cape Region of South Africa, and the Atlantic Ocean waters surrounding Ascension Island, we offer tailor made luxury and mid range trips that target pelagic migratory fish species such as Tunas, Wahoo, Billfish, Trevally, and Mackerel, as well as specific demersal game fish species such as Snappers, Jobfish, and Emperors. None of the fish we catch goes to waste; it’s all either eaten by you who caught it, local communities and fishermen to whom it is donated to, or selectively chosen as bait for other fish. Fish is at times sold and 100% of the proceeds donated to the local communities we spearfish in.
Through our land based trips, world famous live aboard trips, and our freediving and spearfishing school located in Zanzibar, we cater for all levels of spearfishers; experts, intermediate, and beginners. Explore our amazing destinations and allow us to create a spearfishing trip of a lifetime for you, your family, and your friends.

Sports Fishing
Historically, fishing has been an important method of collecting food. Fishing skills have been passed down from generation to generation. In recent times, fishing has become one of the world’s great pastimes, and sport fishing – or fishing for sport – is the culmination of this type of pastime. Avid sport fishermen travel the world to catch the most sought after fish, considered ‘prize’ fish for their size, difficulty in catching, and fighting strength. As sport fishing targets fish as a pastime, the vast majority of fish are released back into the sea and allowed to swim another day.
East and Southern Africa offer some world class sport fishing destinations for those seeking prize fish. Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, Giant Trevally and the mighty Dogtooth Tuna teem in these waters. We offer sport fishing adventures to prime destinations. Whether you prefer trolling, popping, jigging, or fly fishing, or a combination of all of those, our experienced guides will put you on the great fish this part of the world has to offer.
