PARAGLIDING IN SOUTH AFRICA

Cape Town is one of the most spectacular places in the world to paraglide.  The ‘Lions Head,’ lying next to Table Mountain, rises to 669 meters above sea level. Also located in Cape Town, ‘Signal Hill’, rises to 350 meter above sea level into a flat topped hill. Due to their strategic location from which to view the stunning surroundings Table Mountain and the Cape Town area, the ‘Lion’s Head’ and ‘Signal Hill’ make up the two launch sites for our Paragliding adventures in the Cape Town area.
On any particular day, the choice of launch site depends on the wind direction at the time. At times flights will start from Signal Hill and move across to the Lions Head as the wind changes throughout the day. Tandem Paragliding flights vary in duration and specific flight times cannot be guaranteed due to the changeable nature of the wind and general weather conditions in Cape Town. Flights only happen in conditions that allow for safe launches and landings. Our tandem Paragliding flight instructors are all highly experienced and love to fly.

As a tandem Paragliding passenger, you do not require any previous knowledge of paragliding at all. Take off’s are easy (just a few steps usually) and landings are generally soft (landings are most often on large grassy fields with no obstacles or dangers).
Instructors will always make every effort to provide for the longest (up to 30 minutes) and most enjoyable flight possible. Generally, flights in the Cape Town area can be anything from 5-30 minutes in duration.
Table Mountain National Parks do not allow commercial tandem paragliding flights to take off from Table Mountain. However, a few lucky passengers have flown across Table Mountain when weather conditions have allowed
