Selective Fishing in South Africa

South Africa is known as the ‘Rainbow Nation’ for its diversity of people and colours of its landscapes.  Being the southern most country in Africa, it boasts coastlines from two oceans; the Indian Ocean along its east coast and the Atlantic Ocean along its western coast.

Around the southern tip of South Africa, where the two oceans converge, lies a very productive fishing ground.  Large schools of Yellowfin, Longfin, and Big Eye Tuna are found there, along with Marlin, Yellowtail, the occasional Wahoo, and some lesser reef species.

Day trips set off from Miller’s Point, a little south-east of Cape Town, and head to the deep canyons off Cape Point to hunt the large Yellowfin and Big Eye Tuna found there.  Longfin Tuna are also plentiful in the area.  Off the southern most point of the African Continent, Cape Agulhas, we head out to spearfish for Yellowtail and some reef species, along with the potential for Striped and Black Marlin.

Depending on one’s preferences, we offer day trips as an add on to a bigger trip to South Africa or spearfishing packages to include accommodation, the spearfishing, and other activities to be enjoyed while visiting this spectacular part of the world.
